They are skilled in doing evil;^(D)

⁷ There are those who turn justice into bitterness^(A)
    and cast righteousness^(B) to the ground.^(C)

¹² Do horses run on the rocky crags?
    Does one plow the sea^[a] with oxen?
But you have turned justice into poison^(A)
    and the fruit of righteousness^(B) into bitterness^(C)—

⁸ Because you have plundered many nations,
    the peoples who are left will plunder you.^(A)
For you have shed human blood;^(B)
    you have destroyed lands and cities and everyone in them.^(C)

⁹ “Woe to him who builds^(D) his house by unjust gain,^(E)
    setting his nest^(F) on high
    to escape the clutches of ruin!
¹⁰ You have plotted the ruin^(G) of many peoples,
    shaming^(H) your own house and forfeiting your life.
¹¹ The stones^(I) of the wall will cry out,
    and the beams of the woodwork will echo it.
