Jeremiah 48:37-39

37 For (A)every head is bald and every beard cut short; there are gashes on all the hands and (B)sackcloth on the loins. 38 On all the (C)rooftops of Moab and in its open squares [a]there is lamentation everywhere; for I have broken Moab like an undesirable (D)vessel,” declares Yahweh. 39 “How [b]shattered it is! How they have wailed! How Moab has turned his back—he is ashamed! So Moab will become a laughingstock and an (E)object of terror to all around him.”

and every beard(B) cut off;
every hand is slashed
and every waist is covered with sackcloth.(C)
38 On all the roofs in Moab
and in the public squares(D)
there is nothing but mourning,
for I have broken Moab
like a jar(E) that no one wants,”
declares the Lord.
39 “How shattered(F) she is! How they wail!
How Moab turns her back in shame!
Moab has become an object of ridicule,(G)
an object of horror to all those around her.”
