6 It happened one day that the sons of God came to serve Adonai, and among them came the Adversary [a]. 7 Adonai asked the Adversary, “Where are you coming from?” The Adversary answered Adonai, “From roaming through the earth, wandering here and there.” 8 Adonai asked the Adversary, “Did you notice my servant Iyov, that there’s no one like him on earth, a blameless and upright man who fears God and shuns evil?”

6 One day the angels[a](A) came to present themselves before the Lord, and Satan[b](B) also came with them.(C) 7 The Lord said to Satan, “Where have you come from?”
Satan answered the Lord, “From roaming throughout the earth, going back and forth on it.”(D)
8 Then the Lord said to Satan, “Have you considered my servant Job?(E) There is no one on earth like him; he is blameless and upright, a man who fears God(F) and shuns evil.”(G)
