⁸Behold, I go forward, but he is not there; and backward, but I cannot perceive him:

⁸“But if I go to the east, he is not there;
if I go to the west, I do not find him.

⁹On the left hand, where he doth work, but I cannot behold him: he hideth himself on the right hand, that I cannot see him:

⁹When he is at work in the north, I do not see him;
when he turns to the south, I catch no glimpse of him.^(A)

²Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.

²Clouds^(A) and thick darkness^(B) surround him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.^(C)
