Joel 1:14-16
Living Bible

14 Announce a fast; call a solemn meeting. Gather the elders and all the people into the Temple of the Lord your God, and weep before him there.

15 Alas, this terrible day of punishment[a] is on the way. Destruction from the Almighty is almost here! 16 Our food will disappear before our eyes; all joy and gladness will be ended in the Temple of our God.

    call a sacred assembly.
Summon the elders
    and all who live in the land(B)
to the house of the Lord your God,

15 Alas for that(E) day!
    For the day of the Lord(F) is near;
    it will come like destruction from the Almighty.[a](G)

16 Has not the food been cut off(H)
    before our very eyes—
joy and gladness(I)
    from the house of our God?(J)
