9 They storm the city;
they run on the wall;
they climb into the houses;(A)
they enter through the windows like thieves.(B)
10 The earth quakes before them;(C)
the sky shakes.
The sun and moon grow dark,(D)
and the stars cease their shining.(E)
11 The Lord makes his voice heard(F)
in the presence of his army.(G)
His camp is very large;
those who carry out his command are powerful.(H)
Indeed, the day of the Lord is terrible and dreadful(I)—
who can endure it?(J)

the heavens tremble,(D)
the sun and moon are darkened,(E)
and the stars no longer shine.(F)
11 The Lord(G) thunders(H)
at the head of his army;(I)
his forces are beyond number,
and mighty is the army that obeys his command.
The day of the Lord is great;(J)
it is dreadful.
Who can endure it?(K)
