⁵“Jesus of Nazareth,”^(A) they replied.

“I am he,” Jesus said. (And Judas the traitor was standing there with them.)

⁵They answered him, Jesus of Nazareth. Jesus saith unto them, I am he. And Judas also, which betrayed him, stood with them.

⁶When Jesus said, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground.

⁶As soon then as he had said unto them, I am he, they went backward, and fell to the ground.

⁵⁸“Very truly I tell you,” Jesus answered, “before Abraham was born,^(A) I am!”^(B)
