¹¹ He said this, and then He told them, “Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep,^(A) but I’m on My way to wake him up.”

⁶⁰ Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice,^(A) “Lord, do not charge them with this sin!” And saying this, he fell asleep.^(B)

The Comfort of Christ’s Coming

¹³ We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, concerning those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve like the rest, who have no hope.^{(A) 14} Since we believe that Jesus died and rose^(B) again,^(C) in the same way God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep through^[a] Jesus.^{(D) 15} For we say this to you by a revelation from the Lord:^[b](E) We who are still alive at the Lord’s coming^(F) will certainly have no advantage over^[c] those who have fallen asleep.^(G)
