2 Vocatus est autem et Jesus, et discipuli ejus, ad nuptias.
3 Et deficiente vino, dicit mater Jesu ad eum: Vinum non habent.
4 Et dicit ei Jesus: Quid mihi et tibi est, mulier? nondum venit hora mea.
5 Dicit mater ejus ministris: Quodcumque dixerit vobis, facite.
6 Erant autem ibi lapideae hydriae sex positae secundum purificationem Judaeorum, capientes singulae metretas binas vel ternas.
7 Dicit eis Jesus: Implete hydrias aqua. Et impleverunt eas usque ad summum.
8 Et dicit eis Jesus: Haurite nunc, et ferte architriclino. Et tulerunt.
9 Ut autem gustavit architriclinus aquam vinum factam, et non sciebat unde esset, ministri autem sciebant, qui hauserant aquam: vocat sponsum architriclinus,
10 et dicit ei: Omnis homo primum bonum vinum ponit et cum inebriati fuerint, tunc id, quod deterius est. Tu autem servasti bonum vinum usque adhuc.
11 Hoc fecit initium signorum Jesus in Cana Galilaeae; et manifestavit gloriam suam, et crediderunt in eum discipuli ejus.
12 Post hoc descendit Capharnaum ipse, et mater ejus, et fratres ejus, et discipuli ejus: et ibi manserunt non multis diebus.
13 Et prope erat Pascha Judaeorum, et ascendit Jesus Jerosolymam:
14 et invenit in templo vendentes boves, et oves, et columbas, et numularios sedentes.
15 Et cum fecisset quasi flagellum de funiculis, omnes ejecit de templo, oves quoque, et boves, et numulariorum effudit aes, et mensas subvertit.
16 Et his qui columbas vendebant, dixit: Auferte ista hinc, et nolite facere domum patris mei, domum negotiationis.
17 Recordati sunt vero discipuli ejus quia scriptum est: Zelus domus tuae comedit me.
18 Responderunt ergo Judaei, et dixerunt ei: Quod signum ostendis nobis, quia haec facis?
19 Respondit Jesus, et dixit eis: Solvite templum hoc, et in tribus diebus excitabo illud.
20 Dixerunt ergo Judaei: Quadraginta et sex annis aedificatum est templum hoc, et tu in tribus diebus excitabis illud?
21 Ille autem dicebat de templo corporis sui.
22 Cum ergo resurrexisset a mortuis, recordati sunt discipuli ejus, quia hoc dicebat, et crediderunt scripturae et sermoni quem dixit Jesus.
23 Cum autem esset Jerosolymis in Pascha in die festo, multi crediderunt in nomine ejus, videntes signa ejus, quae faciebat.
24 Ipse autem Jesus non credebat semetipsum eis, eo quod ipse nosset omnes,
25 et quia opus ei non erat ut quis testimonium perhiberet de homine: ipse enim sciebat quid esset in homine.
3 Erat autem homo ex pharisaeis, Nicodemus nomine, princeps Judaeorum.
2 Hic venit ad Jesum nocte, et dixit ei: Rabbi, scimus quia a Deo venisti magister, nemo enim potest haec signa facere, quae tu facis, nisi fuerit Deus cum eo.
3 Respondit Jesus, et dixit ei: Amen, amen dico tibi, nisi quis renatus fuerit denuo, non potest videre regnum Dei.
4 Dicit ad eum Nicodemus: Quomodo potest homo nasci, cum sit senex? numquid potest in ventrem matris suae iterato introire et renasci?
5 Respondit Jesus: Amen, amen dico tibi, nisi quis renatus fuerit ex aqua, et Spiritu Sancto, non potest introire in regnum Dei.
6 Quod natum est ex carne, caro est: et quod natum est ex spiritu, spiritus est.
7 Non mireris quia dixi tibi: oportet vos nasci denuo.
8 Spiritus ubi vult spirat, et vocem ejus audis, sed nescis unde veniat, aut quo vadat: sic est omnis qui natus est ex spiritu.
9 Respondit Nicodemus, et dixit ei: Quomodo possunt haec fieri?
10 Respondit Jesus, et dixit ei: Tu es magister in Israel, et haec ignoras?
11 Amen, amen dico tibi, quia quod scimus loquimur, et quod vidimus testamur, et testimonium nostrum non accipitis.
12 Si terrena dixi vobis, et non creditis: quomodo, si dixero vobis caelestia, credetis?
13 Et nemo ascendit in caelum, nisi qui descendit de caelo, Filius hominis, qui est in caelo.
14 Et sicut Moyses exaltavit serpentem in deserto, ita exaltari oportet Filium hominis:
15 ut omnis qui credit in ipsum, non pereat, sed habeat vitam aeternam.
16 Sic enim Deus dilexit mundum, ut Filium suum unigenitum daret: ut omnis qui credit in eum, non pereat, sed habeat vitam aeternam.
17 Non enim misit Deus Filium suum in mundum, ut judicet mundum, sed ut salvetur mundus per ipsum.
18 Qui credit in eum, non judicatur; qui autem non credit, jam judicatus est: quia non credit in nomine unigeniti Filii Dei.
19 Hoc est autem judicium: quia lux venit in mundum, et dilexerunt homines magis tenebras quam lucem: erant enim eorum mala opera.
20 Omnis enim qui male agit, odit lucem, et non venit ad lucem, ut non arguantur opera ejus:
21 qui autem facit veritatem, venit ad lucem, ut manifestentur opera ejus, quia in Deo sunt facta.
22 Post haec venit Jesus et discipuli ejus in terram Judaeam: et illic demorabatur cum eis, et baptizabat.
23 Erat autem et Joannes baptizans, in AEnnon, juxta Salim: quia aquae multae erant illic, et veniebant et baptizabantur.
24 Nondum enim missus fuerat Joannes in carcerem.
25 Facta est autem quaestio ex discipulis Joannis cum Judaeis de purificatione.
26 Et venerunt ad Joannem, et dixerunt ei: Rabbi, qui erat tecum trans Jordanem, cui tu testimonium perhibuisti, ecce hic baptizat, et omnes veniunt ad eum.
27 Respondit Joannes, et dixit: Non potest homo accipere quidquam, nisi fuerit ei datum de caelo.
28 Ipsi vos mihi testimonium perhibetis, quod dixerim: Non sum ego Christus: sed quia missus sum ante illum.
29 Qui habet sponsam, sponsus est: amicus autem sponsi, qui stat, et audit eum, gaudio gaudet propter vocem sponsi. Hoc ergo gaudium meum impletum est.
30 Illum oportet crescere, me autem minui.
31 Qui desursum venit, super omnes est. Qui est de terra, de terra est, et de terra loquitur. Qui de caelo venit, super omnes est.
32 Et quod vidit, et audivit, hoc testatur: et testimonium ejus nemo accipit.
33 Qui accepit ejus testimonium signavit, quia Deus verax est.
34 Quem enim misit Deus, verba Dei loquitur: non enim ad mensuram dat Deus spiritum.
35 Pater diligit Filium et omnia dedit in manu ejus.
36 Qui credit in Filium, habet vitam aeternam; qui autem incredulus est Filio, non videbit vitam, sed ira Dei manet super eum.
4 Ut ergo cognovit Jesus quia audierunt pharisaei quod Jesus plures discipulos facit, et baptizat, quam Joannes
2 (quamquam Jesus non baptizaret, sed discipuli ejus),
3 reliquit Judaeam, et abiit iterum in Galilaeam.
4 Oportebat autem eum transire per Samariam.
5 Venit ergo in civitatem Samariae, quae dicitur Sichar, juxta praedium quod dedit Jacob Joseph filio suo.
6 Erat autem ibi fons Jacob. Jesus ergo fatigatus ex itinere, sedebat sic supra fontem. Hora erat quasi sexta.
7 Venit mulier de Samaria haurire aquam. Dicit ei Jesus: Da mihi bibere.
8 (Discipuli enim ejus abierant in civitatem ut cibos emerent.)
9 Dicit ergo ei mulier illa Samaritana: Quomodo tu, Judaeus cum sis, bibere a me poscis, quae sum mulier Samaritana? non enim coutuntur Judaei Samaritanis.
10 Respondit Jesus, et dixit ei: Si scires donum Dei, et quis est qui dicit tibi: Da mihi bibere, tu forsitan petisses ab eo, et dedisset tibi aquam vivam.
11 Dicit ei mulier: Domine, neque in quo haurias habes, et puteus altus est: unde ergo habes aquam vivam?
12 Numquid tu major es patre nostro Jacob, qui dedit nobis puteum, et ipse ex eo bibit, et filii ejus, et pecora ejus?
13 Respondit Jesus, et dixit ei: Omnis qui bibit ex aqua hac, sitiet iterum; qui autem biberit ex aqua quam ego dabo ei, non sitiet in aeternum:
14 sed aqua quam ego dabo ei, fiet in eo fons aquae salientis in vitam aeternam.
15 Dicit ad eum mulier: Domine, da mihi hanc aquam, ut non sitiam, neque veniam huc haurire.
16 Dicit ei Jesus: Vade, voca virum tuum, et veni huc.
17 Respondit mulier, et dixit: Non habeo virum. Dicit ei Jesus: Bene dixisti, quia non habeo virum;
18 quinque enim viros habuisti, et nunc, quem habes, non est tuus vir: hoc vere dixisti.
19 Dicit ei mulier: Domine, video quia propheta es tu.
20 Patres nostri in monte hoc adoraverunt, et vos dicitis, quia Jerosolymis est locus ubi adorare oportet.
21 Dicit ei Jesus: Mulier, crede mihi, quia venit hora, quando neque in monte hoc, neque in Jerosolymis adorabitis Patrem.
22 Vos adoratis quod nescitis: nos adoramus quod scimus, quia salus ex Judaeis est.
23 Sed venit hora, et nunc est, quando veri adoratores adorabunt Patrem in spiritu et veritate. Nam et Pater tales quaerit, qui adorent eum.
24 Spiritus est Deus: et eos qui adorant eum, in spiritu et veritate oportet adorare.
25 Dicit ei mulier: Scio quia Messias venit (qui dicitur Christus): cum ergo venerit ille, nobis annuntiabit omnia.
26 Dicit ei Jesus: Ego sum, qui loquor tecum.
27 Et continuo venerunt discipuli ejus, et mirabantur quia cum muliere loquebatur. Nemo tamen dixit: Quid quaeris? aut, Quid loqueris cum ea?
28 Reliquit ergo hydriam suam mulier, et abiit in civitatem, et dicit illis hominibus:
29 Venite, et videte hominem qui dixit mihi omnia quaecumque feci: numquid ipse est Christus?
30 Exierunt ergo de civitate et veniebant ad eum.
31 Interea rogabant eum discipuli, dicentes: Rabbi, manduca.
32 Ille autem dicit eis: Ego cibum habeo manducare, quem vos nescitis.
33 Dicebant ergo discipuli ad invicem: Numquid aliquis attulit ei manducare?
34 Dicit eis Jesus: Meus cibus est ut faciam voluntatem ejus qui misit me, ut perficiam opus ejus.
35 Nonne vos dicitis quod adhuc quatuor menses sunt, et messis venit? Ecce dico vobis: levate oculos vestros, et videte regiones, quia albae sunt jam ad messem.
36 Et qui metit, mercedem accipit, et congregat fructum in vitam aeternam: ut et qui seminat, simul gaudeat, et qui metit.
37 In hoc enim est verbum verum: quia alius est qui seminat, et alius est qui metit.
38 Ego misi vos metere quod vos non laborastis: alii laboraverunt, et vos in labores eorum introistis.
39 Ex civitate autem illa multi crediderunt in eum Samaritanorum, propter verbum mulieris testimonium perhibentis: Quia dixit mihi omnia quaecumque feci.
40 Cum venissent ergo ad illum Samaritani, rogaverunt eum ut ibi maneret. Et mansit ibi duos dies.
41 Et multo plures crediderunt in eum propter sermonem ejus.
42 Et mulieri dicebant: Quia jam non propter tuam loquelam credimus: ipsi enim audivimus, et scimus quia hic est vere Salvator mundi.
43 Post duos autem dies exiit inde, et abiit in Galilaeam.
44 Ipse enim Jesus testimonium perhibuit, quia propheta in sua patria honorem non habet.
45 Cum ergo venisset in Galilaeam, exceperunt eum Galilaei, cum omnia vidissent quae fecerat Jerosolymis in die festo: et ipsi enim venerant ad diem festum.
46 Venit ergo iterum in Cana Galilaeae, ubi fecit aquam vinum. Et erat quidam regulus, cujus filius infirmabatur Capharnaum.
47 Hic cum audisset quia Jesus adveniret a Judaea in Galilaeam, abiit ad eum, et rogabat eum ut descenderet, et sanaret filium ejus: incipiebat enim mori.
48 Dixit ergo Jesus ad eum: Nisi signa et prodigia videritis, non creditis.
49 Dicit ad eum regulus: Domine, descende priusquam moriatur filius meus.
50 Dicit ei Jesus: Vade, filius tuus vivit. Credidit homo sermoni quem dixit ei Jesus, et ibat.
51 Jam autem eo descendente, servi occurrerunt ei, et nuntiaverunt dicentes, quia filius ejus viveret.
52 Interrogabat ergo horam ab eis in qua melius habuerit. Et dixerunt ei: Quia heri hora septima reliquit eum febris.
53 Cognovit ergo pater, quia illa hora erat in qua dixit ei Jesus: Filius tuus vivit; et credidit ipse et domus ejus tota.
54 Hoc iterum secundum signum fecit Jesus, cum venisset a Judaea in Galilaeam.

Jesus Changes Water Into Wine
2 On the third day a wedding took place at Cana in Galilee.(A) Jesus’ mother(B) was there, 2 and Jesus and his disciples had also been invited to the wedding. 3 When the wine was gone, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They have no more wine.”
4 “Woman,[a](C) why do you involve me?”(D) Jesus replied. “My hour(E) has not yet come.”
5 His mother said to the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.”(F)
6 Nearby stood six stone water jars, the kind used by the Jews for ceremonial washing,(G) each holding from twenty to thirty gallons.[b]
7 Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water”; so they filled them to the brim.
8 Then he told them, “Now draw some out and take it to the master of the banquet.”
They did so, 9 and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine.(H) He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew. Then he called the bridegroom aside 10 and said, “Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now.”
11 What Jesus did here in Cana of Galilee was the first of the signs(I) through which he revealed his glory;(J) and his disciples believed in him.(K)
12 After this he went down to Capernaum(L) with his mother(M) and brothers(N) and his disciples. There they stayed for a few days.
Jesus Clears the Temple Courts(O)
13 When it was almost time for the Jewish Passover,(P) Jesus went up to Jerusalem.(Q) 14 In the temple courts he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves,(R) and others sitting at tables exchanging money.(S) 15 So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables. 16 To those who sold doves he said, “Get these out of here! Stop turning my Father’s house(T) into a market!” 17 His disciples remembered that it is written: “Zeal for your house will consume me.”[c](U)
18 The Jews(V) then responded to him, “What sign(W) can you show us to prove your authority to do all this?”(X)
19 Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and I will raise it again in three days.”(Y)
20 They replied, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and you are going to raise it in three days?” 21 But the temple he had spoken of was his body.(Z) 22 After he was raised from the dead, his disciples recalled what he had said.(AA) Then they believed the scripture(AB) and the words that Jesus had spoken.
23 Now while he was in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival,(AC) many people saw the signs(AD) he was performing and believed(AE) in his name.[d] 24 But Jesus would not entrust himself to them, for he knew all people. 25 He did not need any testimony about mankind,(AF) for he knew what was in each person.(AG)
Jesus Teaches Nicodemus
3 Now there was a Pharisee, a man named Nicodemus(AH) who was a member of the Jewish ruling council.(AI) 2 He came to Jesus at night and said, “Rabbi,(AJ) we know(AK) that you are a teacher who has come from God. For no one could perform the signs(AL) you are doing if God were not with him.”(AM)
3 Jesus replied, “Very truly I tell you, no one can see the kingdom of God unless they are born again.[e]”(AN)
4 “How can someone be born when they are old?” Nicodemus asked. “Surely they cannot enter a second time into their mother’s womb to be born!”
5 Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.(AO) 6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit[f] gives birth to spirit.(AP) 7 You should not be surprised at my saying, ‘You[g] must be born again.’ 8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”[h](AQ)
9 “How can this be?”(AR) Nicodemus asked.
10 “You are Israel’s teacher,”(AS) said Jesus, “and do you not understand these things? 11 Very truly I tell you, we speak of what we know,(AT) and we testify to what we have seen, but still you people do not accept our testimony.(AU) 12 I have spoken to you of earthly things and you do not believe; how then will you believe if I speak of heavenly things? 13 No one has ever gone into heaven(AV) except the one who came from heaven(AW)—the Son of Man.[i](AX) 14 Just as Moses lifted up the snake in the wilderness,(AY) so the Son of Man must be lifted up,[j](AZ) 15 that everyone who believes(BA) may have eternal life in him.”[k](BB)
16 For God so loved(BC) the world that he gave(BD) his one and only Son,(BE) that whoever believes(BF) in him shall not perish but have eternal life.(BG) 17 For God did not send his Son into the world(BH) to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.(BI) 18 Whoever believes in him is not condemned,(BJ) but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s one and only Son.(BK) 19 This is the verdict: Light(BL) has come into the world, but people loved darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.(BM) 20 Everyone who does evil hates the light, and will not come into the light for fear that their deeds will be exposed.(BN) 21 But whoever lives by the truth comes into the light, so that it may be seen plainly that what they have done has been done in the sight of God.
John Testifies Again About Jesus
22 After this, Jesus and his disciples went out into the Judean countryside, where he spent some time with them, and baptized.(BO) 23 Now John(BP) also was baptizing at Aenon near Salim, because there was plenty of water, and people were coming and being baptized. 24 (This was before John was put in prison.)(BQ) 25 An argument developed between some of John’s disciples and a certain Jew over the matter of ceremonial washing.(BR) 26 They came to John and said to him, “Rabbi,(BS) that man who was with you on the other side of the Jordan—the one you testified(BT) about—look, he is baptizing, and everyone is going to him.”
27 To this John replied, “A person can receive only what is given them from heaven. 28 You yourselves can testify that I said, ‘I am not the Messiah but am sent ahead of him.’(BU) 29 The bride belongs to the bridegroom.(BV) The friend who attends the bridegroom waits and listens for him, and is full of joy when he hears the bridegroom’s voice. That joy is mine, and it is now complete.(BW) 30 He must become greater; I must become less.”[l]
31 The one who comes from above(BX) is above all; the one who is from the earth belongs to the earth, and speaks as one from the earth.(BY) The one who comes from heaven is above all. 32 He testifies to what he has seen and heard,(BZ) but no one accepts his testimony.(CA) 33 Whoever has accepted it has certified that God is truthful. 34 For the one whom God has sent(CB) speaks the words of God, for God[m] gives the Spirit(CC) without limit. 35 The Father loves the Son and has placed everything in his hands.(CD) 36 Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life,(CE) but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on them.
Jesus Talks With a Samaritan Woman
4 Now Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that he was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John(CF)— 2 although in fact it was not Jesus who baptized, but his disciples. 3 So he left Judea(CG) and went back once more to Galilee.
4 Now he had to go through Samaria.(CH) 5 So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph.(CI) 6 Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.
7 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?”(CJ) 8 (His disciples had gone into the town(CK) to buy food.)
9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan(CL) woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.[n])
10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”(CM)
11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well(CN) and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”
13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.(CO) Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water(CP) welling up to eternal life.”(CQ)
15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty(CR) and have to keep coming here to draw water.”
16 He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.”
17 “I have no husband,” she replied.
Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. 18 The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.”
19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet.(CS) 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain,(CT) but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”(CU)
21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming(CV) when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.(CW) 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know;(CX) we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews.(CY) 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come(CZ) when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit(DA) and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit,(DB) and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ)(DC) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”
26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”(DD)
The Disciples Rejoin Jesus
27 Just then his disciples returned(DE) and were surprised to find him talking with a woman. But no one asked, “What do you want?” or “Why are you talking with her?”
28 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, 29 “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did.(DF) Could this be the Messiah?”(DG) 30 They came out of the town and made their way toward him.
31 Meanwhile his disciples urged him, “Rabbi,(DH) eat something.”
32 But he said to them, “I have food to eat(DI) that you know nothing about.”
33 Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?”
34 “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will(DJ) of him who sent me and to finish his work.(DK) 35 Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.(DL) 36 Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests(DM) a crop for eternal life,(DN) so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. 37 Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’(DO) is true. 38 I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.”
Many Samaritans Believe
39 Many of the Samaritans from that town(DP) believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.”(DQ) 40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. 41 And because of his words many more became believers.
42 They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”(DR)
Jesus Heals an Official’s Son
43 After the two days(DS) he left for Galilee. 44 (Now Jesus himself had pointed out that a prophet has no honor in his own country.)(DT) 45 When he arrived in Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him. They had seen all that he had done in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival,(DU) for they also had been there.
46 Once more he visited Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine.(DV) And there was a certain royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum. 47 When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea,(DW) he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death.
48 “Unless you people see signs and wonders,”(DX) Jesus told him, “you will never believe.”
49 The royal official said, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”
50 “Go,” Jesus replied, “your son will live.”
The man took Jesus at his word and departed. 51 While he was still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy was living. 52 When he inquired as to the time when his son got better, they said to him, “Yesterday, at one in the afternoon, the fever left him.”
53 Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” So he and his whole household(DY) believed.
54 This was the second sign(DZ) Jesus performed after coming from Judea to Galilee.

3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

3 There was a man of the Pharisees, named Nicodemus, a ruler of the Jews:
2 The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit.
7 Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
8 The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.

4 When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John,

3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.
4 And he must needs go through Samaria.
5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
31 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
41 And many more believed because of his own word;
42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
43 Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.
44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.
45 Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
52 Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.
