42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love Me,(A) because I came from God(B) and I am here. For I didn’t come on My own, but He sent Me. 43 Why don’t you understand what I say? Because you cannot listen to[a] My word.(C) 44 You are of your father the Devil,(D) and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer(E) from the beginning(F) and has not stood in the truth,(G) because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks from his own nature,[b] because he is a liar and the father of liars.[c] 45 Yet because I tell the truth, you do not believe Me. 46 Who among you can convict Me of sin?(H) If I tell the truth, why don’t you believe Me? 47 The one who is from God listens to God’s words. This is why you don’t listen, because you are not from God.”

Because you are unable to hear what I say. 44 You belong to your father, the devil,(E) and you want to carry out your father’s desires.(F) He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.(G) 45 Yet because I tell the truth,(H) you do not believe me! 46 Can any of you prove me guilty of sin? If I am telling the truth, why don’t you believe me? 47 Whoever belongs to God hears what God says.(I) The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.”
