John 9:16-18
Common English Bible
16 Some Pharisees said, “This man isn’t from God, because he breaks the Sabbath law.” Others said, “How can a sinner do miraculous signs like these?” So they were divided. 17 Some of the Pharisees questioned the man who had been born blind again: “What do you have to say about him, since he healed your eyes?”
He replied, “He’s a prophet.”
Conflict over the healing
18 The Jewish leaders didn’t believe the man had been blind and received his sight until they called for his parents.

New International Version
16 Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.”(A)
But others asked, “How can a sinner perform such signs?”(B) So they were divided.(C)
17 Then they turned again to the blind man, “What have you to say about him? It was your eyes he opened.”
The man replied, “He is a prophet.”(D)
18 They(E) still did not believe that he had been blind and had received his sight until they sent for the man’s parents.
