7 Then each man said to the other, “Come, let us [a](A)have the lots fall so we may know on whose account this calamitous evil has struck us.” So they [b]had the lots fall, and the (B)lot fell on Jonah. 8 Then they said to him, “(C)Tell us, now! On whose account has this calamitous evil struck us? What is your (D)occupation? And where do you come from? What is your country? From what people are you?” 9 And he said to them, “I am a (E)Hebrew, and I (F)fear Yahweh, the (G)God of heaven, who (H)made the sea and the dry land.”

New International Version
7 Then the sailors said to each other, “Come, let us cast lots to find out who is responsible for this calamity.”(A) They cast lots and the lot fell on Jonah.(B) 8 So they asked him, “Tell us, who is responsible for making all this trouble for us? What kind of work do you do? Where do you come from? What is your country? From what people are you?”
9 He answered, “I am a Hebrew and I worship the Lord,(C) the God of heaven,(D) who made the sea(E) and the dry land.(F)”
