22 Then Joshua said to the people, “You are witnesses against yourselves that (A)you have chosen the Lord, to serve him.” And they said, “We are witnesses.” 23 He said, “Then (B)put away the foreign gods that are among you, and incline your heart to the Lord, the God of Israel.” 24 And the people said to Joshua, “The Lord our God we will serve, and his voice we will obey.” 25 So Joshua (C)made a covenant with the people that day, and put in place (D)statutes and rules for them at Shechem. 26 And Joshua (E)wrote these words in the Book of the Law of God. And (F)he took a large stone and set it up there (G)under the terebinth that was by the sanctuary of the Lord. 27 And Joshua said to all the people, “Behold, (H)this stone shall be a witness against us, for (I)it has heard all the words of the Lord that he spoke to us. Therefore it shall be a witness against you, lest you deal falsely with your God.”

22 Then Joshua said, “You are witnesses(A) against yourselves that you have chosen(B) to serve the Lord.”

“Yes, we are witnesses,(C)” they replied.

23 “Now then,” said Joshua, “throw away the foreign gods(D) that are among you and yield your hearts(E) to the Lord, the God of Israel.”

24 And the people said to Joshua, “We will serve the Lord our God and obey him.”(F)

25 On that day Joshua made a covenant(G) for the people, and there at Shechem(H) he reaffirmed for them decrees and laws.(I) 26 And Joshua recorded(J) these things in the Book of the Law of God.(K) Then he took a large stone(L) and set it up there under the oak(M) near the holy place of the Lord.

27 “See!” he said to all the people. “This stone(N) will be a witness(O) against us. It has heard all the words the Lord has said to us. It will be a witness against you if you are untrue(P) to your God.”(Q)
