18 When the Lord raised up leaders for them, the Lord was with each leader and delivered the people[a] from their enemies while the leader remained alive. The Lord felt sorry for them[b] when they cried out in agony because of what their harsh oppressors did to them.[c]

18 Whenever the Lord raised up a judge for them, he was with the judge and saved(A) them out of the hands of their enemies as long as the judge lived; for the Lord relented(B) because of their groaning(C) under those who oppressed and afflicted(D) them.
