^4 (A)Then the Lord said to Gideon, “The people are still too many; bring them down to the water and I will test them for you there. So it shall be that he of whom I say to you, ‘This one shall go with you,’ he shall go with you; but everyone of whom I say to you, ‘This one shall not go with you,’ he shall not go.”

⁷ And the Lord said to Gideon, “I will save you ^(A)with the three hundred men who lapped, and will hand the Midianites over to you; so have all the other people go, each man to his ^[a]home.”

⁴⁶ This day the Lord will hand you over to me, and I will strike you and remove your head from you. Then I will give the ^(A)dead bodies of the army of the Philistines this day to the birds of the sky and the wild animals of the earth, ^(B)so that all the earth may know that there is a God in Israel, ⁴⁷ and that this entire assembly may know that ^(C)the Lord does not save by sword or by spear; ^(D)for the battle is the Lord’s, and He will hand you over to us!”
