²⁶ “You are not to eat anything with blood in it.^[a](A) You are not to practice divination^(B) or sorcery.^(C)

¹⁰ No one among you is to make his son or daughter pass through the fire,^[a](A) practice divination, tell fortunes, interpret omens, practice sorcery, ¹¹ cast spells, consult a medium or a familiar spirit, or inquire of the dead.^{(B) 12} Everyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord, and the Lord your God is driving out the nations before you because of these detestable things.

³ but walked in the way of the kings of Israel.^(A) He even made his son pass through the fire,^[a] imitating the detestable practices of the nations the Lord had dispossessed before the Israelites.^(B)
