³⁵ You must stay at the entrance to the tent of meeting day and night for seven days and do what the Lord requires,^(A) so you will not die; for that is what I have been commanded.”

⁶ Then Moses said to Aaron and his sons Eleazar and Ithamar,^(A) “Do not let your hair become unkempt^[a](B) and do not tear your clothes,^(C) or you will die and the Lord will be angry with the whole community.^(D) But your relatives, all the Israelites, may mourn^(E) for those the Lord has destroyed by fire. ⁷ Do not leave the entrance to the tent of meeting^(F) or you will die, because the Lord’s anointing oil^(G) is on you.” So they did as Moses said.

⁸ Then the Lord said to Aaron, ⁹ “You and your sons are not to drink wine^(H) or other fermented drink^(I) whenever you go into the tent of meeting, or you will die. This is a lasting ordinance^(J) for the generations to come,

² The Lord said to Moses: “Tell your brother Aaron that he is not to come whenever he chooses^(A) into the Most Holy Place^(B) behind the curtain^(C) in front of the atonement cover^(D) on the ark, or else he will die. For I will appear^(E) in the cloud^(F) over the atonement cover.

¹³ He is to put the incense on the fire before the Lord, and the smoke of the incense will conceal the atonement cover^(A) above the tablets of the covenant law, so that he will not die.^(B)

¹⁵ The elders^(A) of the community are to lay their hands^(B) on the bull’s head^(C) before the Lord, and the bull shall be slaughtered before the Lord.^{(D) 16} Then the anointed priest is to take some of the bull’s blood^(E) into the tent of meeting. ¹⁷ He shall dip his finger into the blood and sprinkle^(F) it before the Lord^(G) seven times in front of the curtain. ¹⁸ He is to put some of the blood^(H) on the horns of the altar that is before the Lord^(I) in the tent of meeting. The rest of the blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar^(J) of burnt offering at the entrance to the tent of meeting. ¹⁹ He shall remove all the fat^(K) from it and burn it on the altar,^{(L) 20} and do with this bull just as he did with the bull for the sin offering. In this way the priest will make atonement^(M) for the community, and they will be forgiven.^(N)

¹⁰ “‘I will set my face against any Israelite or any foreigner residing among them who eats blood,^(A) and I will cut them off from the people.

³ You must not do as they do in Egypt, where you used to live, and you must not do as they do in the land of Canaan, where I am bringing you. Do not follow their practices.^{(A) 4} You must obey my laws^(B) and be careful to follow my decrees.^(C) I am the Lord your God.^{(D) 5} Keep my decrees and laws,^(E) for the person who obeys them will live by them.^(F) I am the Lord.

⁶ “‘No one is to approach any close relative to have sexual relations. I am the Lord.

⁷ “‘Do not dishonor your father^(G) by having sexual relations with your mother.^(H) She is your mother; do not have relations with her.

⁸ “‘Do not have sexual relations with your father’s wife;^(I) that would dishonor your father.^(J)

⁹ “‘Do not have sexual relations with your sister,^(K) either your father’s daughter or your mother’s daughter, whether she was born in the same home or elsewhere.^(L)

¹⁰ “‘Do not have sexual relations with your son’s daughter or your daughter’s daughter; that would dishonor you.

¹¹ “‘Do not have sexual relations with the daughter of your father’s wife, born to your father; she is your sister.

¹² “‘Do not have sexual relations with your father’s sister;^(M) she is your father’s close relative.

¹³ “‘Do not have sexual relations with your mother’s sister,^(N) because she is your mother’s close relative.

¹⁴ “‘Do not dishonor your father’s brother by approaching his wife to have sexual relations; she is your aunt.^(O)

¹⁵ “‘Do not have sexual relations with your daughter-in-law.^(P) She is your son’s wife; do not have relations with her.^(Q)

¹⁶ “‘Do not have sexual relations with your brother’s wife;^(R) that would dishonor your brother.

¹⁷ “‘Do not have sexual relations with both a woman and her daughter.^(S) Do not have sexual relations with either her son’s daughter or her daughter’s daughter; they are her close relatives. That is wickedness.

¹⁸ “‘Do not take your wife’s sister^(T) as a rival wife and have sexual relations with her while your wife is living.

¹⁹ “‘Do not approach a woman to have sexual relations during the uncleanness^(U) of her monthly period.^(V)

²⁰ “‘Do not have sexual relations with your neighbor’s wife^(W) and defile yourself with her.

²¹ “‘Do not give any of your children^(X) to be sacrificed to Molek,^(Y) for you must not profane the name of your God.^(Z) I am the Lord.^(AA)

²² “‘Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman;^(AB) that is detestable.^(AC)

²³ “‘Do not have sexual relations with an animal and defile yourself with it. A woman must not present herself to an animal to have sexual relations with it; that is a perversion.^(AD)

²⁴ “‘Do not defile yourselves in any of these ways, because this is how the nations that I am going to drive out before you^(AE) became defiled.^{(AF) 25} Even the land was defiled;^(AG) so I punished it for its sin,^(AH) and the land vomited out its inhabitants.^{(AI) 26} But you must keep my decrees and my laws.^(AJ) The native-born and the foreigners residing among you must not do any of these detestable things, ²⁷ for all these things were done by the people who lived in the land before you, and the land became defiled. ²⁸ And if you defile the land,^(AK) it will vomit you out^(AL) as it vomited out the nations that were before you.

²⁹ “‘Everyone who does any of these detestable things—such persons must be cut off from their people. ³⁰ Keep my requirements^(AM) and do not follow any of the detestable customs that were practiced before you came and do not defile yourselves with them. I am the Lord your God.^(AN)’”
