New International Version

¹⁹(Barabbas had been thrown into prison for an insurrection in the city, and for murder.)

⁴⁰Then cried they all again, saying, Not this man, but Barabbas. Now Barabbas was a robber.

⁴⁰They shouted back, “No, not him! Give us Barabbas!” Now Barabbas had taken part in an uprising.^(A)
