23 (just as it is written in the law of the Lord: Every firstborn male[a] will be dedicated[b] to the Lord(A)[c]) 24 and to offer a sacrifice (according to what is stated in the law of the Lord: a pair of turtledoves or two young pigeons(B)[d]).

25 There was a man in Jerusalem whose name was Simeon. This man was righteous and devout,(C) looking forward to Israel’s consolation,[e](D) and the Holy Spirit was on him.

23 (as it is written in the Law of the Lord, “Every firstborn male is to be consecrated to the Lord”[a]),(A) 24 and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: “a pair of doves or two young pigeons.”[b](B)
25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout.(C) He was waiting for the consolation of Israel,(D) and the Holy Spirit was on him.
