13 “But the ones on the stones are those who, when they have heard the word, receive it with joy. But they have no roots. So, for a while they believe, but in the time of temptation they go away.

14 “And that which fell among thorns are those who have heard, but after their departure are choked with cares and riches and the pursuit of pleasure. And they bring forth no fruit.

15 “But that which fell in good ground are those who hear the word with an honest and good heart, and keep it, and bring forth fruit through patience.

13 Those on the rocky ground are the ones who receive the word with joy when they hear it, but they have no root. They believe for a while, but in the time of testing they fall away.(A) 14 The seed that fell among thorns stands for those who hear, but as they go on their way they are choked by life’s worries, riches(B) and pleasures, and they do not mature. 15 But the seed on good soil stands for those with a noble and good heart, who hear the word, retain it, and by persevering produce a crop.
