⁸ I tell you, He will defend and protect and avenge them speedily. However, when the Son of Man comes, will He find [^[a]persistence in] faith on the earth?

⁹ He also told this parable to some people who trusted in themselves and were confident that they were righteous [that they were upright and in right standing with God] and scorned and made nothing of all the rest of men:

¹⁰ Two men went up into the temple [^[b]enclosure] to pray, the one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector.
