42 (A)And Jesus called them to him and said to them, “You know that those who are considered rulers of the Gentiles (B)lord it over them, and their great ones exercise authority over them. 43 But (C)it shall not be so among you. But whoever would be great among you must be your servant,[a] 44 and whoever would be first among you must be (D)slave[b] of all. 45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but (E)to serve, and (F)to give his life as a ransom for (G)many.”

46 (H)And they came to Jericho. And (I)as he was leaving Jericho with his disciples and a great crowd, Bartimaeus, (J)a blind beggar, the son of Timaeus, was sitting by the roadside.

42 Jesus called them together and said, “You know that those who are regarded as rulers of the Gentiles lord it over them, and their high officials exercise authority over them. 43 Not so with you. Instead, whoever wants to become great among you must be your servant,(A) 44 and whoever wants to be first must be slave of all. 45 For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve,(B) and to give his life as a ransom for many.”(C)
Blind Bartimaeus Receives His Sight(D)
46 Then they came to Jericho. As Jesus and his disciples, together with a large crowd, were leaving the city, a blind man, Bartimaeus (which means “son of Timaeus”), was sitting by the roadside begging.
