12 And having gone forth, they proclaimed that they should repent. 13 And they were casting out many demons. And they were anointing[a] many sick ones with oil and curing them.
Herod Hears of Jesus And Thinks John The Baptist Arose From The Dead
14 And King Herod[b] heard [of Him], for His name became known. And they[c] were saying that “John, the one baptizing, has arisen from the dead. And for this reason the miraculous-powers[d] are at-work in Him”.

- Mark 6:13 Or, putting on oil, rubbing on oil. The purpose of the oil may be symbolic of God’s Spirit or power, or it may be medicinal as in Lk 10:34.

14 King Herod heard about this, for Jesus’ name had become well known. Some were saying,[a] “John the Baptist(E) has been raised from the dead, and that is why miraculous powers are at work in him.”
