Contemporary English Version
23 (A) People of Capernaum, do you think you will be honored in heaven? You will go down to hell! If the miracles that took place in your town had happened in Sodom, it would still be standing. 24 (B) So I tell you on the day of judgment the people of Sodom will get off easier than you.

My Father, Lord of heaven and earth, I am grateful that you hid all this from wise and educated people and showed it to ordinary people.

New International Version
23 And you, Capernaum,(A) will you be lifted to the heavens? No, you will go down to Hades.[a](B) For if the miracles that were performed in you had been performed in Sodom, it would have remained to this day. 24 But I tell you that it will be more bearable for Sodom on the day of judgment than for you.”(C)
