31 After they had mocked him, they took off the robe and put his own clothes on him. Then they led him away to crucify him.(A)
The Crucifixion of Jesus(B)
32 As they were going out,(C) they met a man from Cyrene,(D) named Simon, and they forced him to carry the cross.(E) 33 They came to a place called Golgotha (which means “the place of the skull”).(F) 34 There they offered Jesus wine to drink, mixed with gall;(G) but after tasting it, he refused to drink it. 35 When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots.(H) 36 And sitting down, they kept watch(I) over him there. 37 Above his head they placed the written charge against him: this is jesus, the king of the jews.
38 Two rebels were crucified with him,(J) one on his right and one on his left. 39 Those who passed by hurled insults at him, shaking their heads(K) 40 and saying, “You who are going to destroy the temple and build it in three days,(L) save yourself!(M) Come down from the cross, if you are the Son of God!”(N) 41 In the same way the chief priests, the teachers of the law and the elders mocked him. 42 “He saved others,” they said, “but he can’t save himself! He’s the king of Israel!(O) Let him come down now from the cross, and we will believe(P) in him. 43 He trusts in God. Let God rescue him(Q) now if he wants him, for he said, ‘I am the Son of God.’” 44 In the same way the rebels who were crucified with him also heaped insults on him.
The Death of Jesus(R)
45 From noon until three in the afternoon darkness(S) came over all the land. 46 About three in the afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud voice, “Eli, Eli,[a] lema sabachthani?” (which means “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?”).[b](T)
47 When some of those standing there heard this, they said, “He’s calling Elijah.”
48 Immediately one of them ran and got a sponge. He filled it with wine vinegar,(U) put it on a staff, and offered it to Jesus to drink. 49 The rest said, “Now leave him alone. Let’s see if Elijah comes to save him.”
50 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.(V)

33 And when they were come unto a place called Golgotha, that is to say, a place of a skull,
34 They gave him vinegar to drink mingled with gall: and when he had tasted thereof, he would not drink.
35 And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.
36 And sitting down they watched him there;
37 And set up over his head his accusation written, This Is Jesus The King Of The Jews.
38 Then were there two thieves crucified with him, one on the right hand, and another on the left.
39 And they that passed by reviled him, wagging their heads,
40 And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple, and buildest it in three days, save thyself. If thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.
41 Likewise also the chief priests mocking him, with the scribes and elders, said,
42 He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.
43 He trusted in God; let him deliver him now, if he will have him: for he said, I am the Son of God.
44 The thieves also, which were crucified with him, cast the same in his teeth.
45 Now from the sixth hour there was darkness over all the land unto the ninth hour.
46 And about the ninth hour Jesus cried with a loud voice, saying, Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani? that is to say, My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me?
47 Some of them that stood there, when they heard that, said, This man calleth for Elias.
48 And straightway one of them ran, and took a spunge, and filled it with vinegar, and put it on a reed, and gave him to drink.
49 The rest said, Let be, let us see whether Elias will come to save him.
50 Jesus, when he had cried again with a loud voice, yielded up the ghost.

33 When they came to the place called the Skull, they crucified him there, along with the criminals—one on his right, the other on his left. 34 Jesus said, “Father,(A) forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing.”[a](B) And they divided up his clothes by casting lots.(C)
35 The people stood watching, and the rulers even sneered at him.(D) They said, “He saved others; let him save himself if he is God’s Messiah, the Chosen One.”(E)
36 The soldiers also came up and mocked him.(F) They offered him wine vinegar(G) 37 and said, “If you are the king of the Jews,(H) save yourself.”
38 There was a written notice above him, which read: this is the king of the jews.(I)
39 One of the criminals who hung there hurled insults at him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Save yourself and us!”(J)
40 But the other criminal rebuked him. “Don’t you fear God,” he said, “since you are under the same sentence? 41 We are punished justly, for we are getting what our deeds deserve. But this man has done nothing wrong.”(K)
42 Then he said, “Jesus, remember me when you come into your kingdom.[b]”(L)
43 Jesus answered him, “Truly I tell you, today you will be with me in paradise.”(M)

38 And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, This Is The King Of The Jews.
39 And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.
40 But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?
41 And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.
42 And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.
43 And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, Today shalt thou be with me in paradise.
