¹⁷ So after they had gathered, Pilate said to them, “Whom do you want me to release for you, Jesus^[a] Barabbas or Jesus who is called the Messiah?”^[b]

³⁴ They were saying, “The Lord has risen indeed, and he has appeared to Simon!”^(A)

³⁸ He said to them, “Why are you frightened, and why do doubts arise in your hearts?

⁵ and that he appeared to Cephas, then to the twelve.^{(A) 6} Then he appeared to more than five hundred brothers and sisters at one time, most of whom are still alive, though some have died.^{[a] 7} Then he appeared to James, then to all the apostles.^(B)
