Matthew 3:3-5
Contemporary English Version
3 (A) John was the one the prophet Isaiah was talking about, when he said,
“In the desert someone
is shouting,
‘Get the road ready
for the Lord!
Make a straight path
for him.’ ”
4 (B) John wore clothes made of camel's hair. He had a leather strap around his waist and ate grasshoppers and wild honey.
5 From Jerusalem and all Judea and from the Jordan River Valley crowds of people went to John.

New International Version
3 This is he who was spoken of through the prophet Isaiah:
“A voice of one calling in the wilderness,
‘Prepare the way for the Lord,
make straight paths for him.’”[a](A)
4 John’s(B) clothes were made of camel’s hair, and he had a leather belt around his waist.(C) His food was locusts(D) and wild honey. 5 People went out to him from Jerusalem and all Judea and the whole region of the Jordan.
