Matthew 8:32-34
New English Translation
32 And he said,[a] “Go!” So[b] they came out and went into the pigs, and the herd rushed down the steep slope into the lake and drowned in the water.[c] 33 The[d] herdsmen ran off, went into the town,[e] and told everything that had happened to the demon-possessed men. 34 Then[f] the entire town[g] came out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they begged him to leave their region.

- Matthew 8:34 tn Or “city.” Here the term is a metonymy for the inhabitants.

New International Version
32 He said to them, “Go!” So they came out and went into the pigs, and the whole herd rushed down the steep bank into the lake and died in the water. 33 Those tending the pigs ran off, went into the town and reported all this, including what had happened to the demon-possessed men. 34 Then the whole town went out to meet Jesus. And when they saw him, they pleaded with him to leave their region.(A)
