8 When the crowds saw this, they were awestruck[a][b] and gave glory(A) to God who had given such authority to men.
The Call of Matthew
9 As Jesus went on from there,(B) He saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax office, and He said to him, “Follow Me!” So he got up and followed Him.(C)
10 While He was reclining at the table in the house, many tax collectors and sinners came as guests to eat[c] with Jesus and His disciples.(D)

9 As Jesus went on from there, he saw a man named Matthew sitting at the tax collector’s booth. “Follow me,”(C) he told him, and Matthew got up and followed him.
10 While Jesus was having dinner at Matthew’s house, many tax collectors and sinners came and ate with him and his disciples.
