Look here! The Lord is coming from his place!
    He will come down
        and will trample down the high places[a] throughout the land.
The mountains will melt under him
    and the valleys will split apart,
like wax in the presence of fire
    and like water gushing down a steep incline.
All this comes about due to the transgression of Jacob,
    and due to the sins of the house of Israel.
What is Jacob’s sin? It’s Samaria, isn’t it?
    And what’s Judah’s high place?[b] It’s Jerusalem, isn’t it?

Judgment Against Samaria and Jerusalem

Look! The Lord is coming from his dwelling(A) place;
    he comes down(B) and treads on the heights of the earth.(C)
The mountains melt(D) beneath him(E)
    and the valleys split apart,(F)
like wax before the fire,
    like water rushing down a slope.
All this is because of Jacob’s transgression,
    because of the sins of the people of Israel.
What is Jacob’s transgression?
    Is it not Samaria?(G)
What is Judah’s high place?
    Is it not Jerusalem?
