Matthew 10:17-20

King James Version

¹⁷But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

¹⁸And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

¹⁹But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

²⁰For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

¹⁷Be on your guard; you will be handed over to the local councils^(A) and be flogged in the synagogues.^(B) ¹⁸On my account you will be brought before governors and kings^(C) as witnesses to them and to the Gentiles. ¹⁹But when they arrest you, do not worry about what to say or how to say it.^(D) At that time you will be given what to say, ²⁰for it will not be you speaking, but the Spirit of your Father^(E) speaking through you.
