³¹ Nevertheless, in Your great compassion You ^(A)did not make an end of them or abandon them,
For You are ^(B)a gracious and compassionate God.

³⁸ But He, being ^(A)compassionate, ^[a](B)forgave their wrongdoing and did not destroy them;
And often He ^[b](C)restrained His anger
And did not stir up all His wrath.
³⁹ So ^(D)He remembered that they were only ^(E)flesh,
A ^[c](F)wind that passes and does not return.
