The Second Census

26 After the plague^(A) the Lord said to Moses and Eleazar son of Aaron, the priest,

¹⁶ “They were the ones who followed Balaam’s advice^(A) and enticed the Israelites to be unfaithful to the Lord in the Peor incident,^(B) so that a plague^(C) struck the Lord’s people.

³ You saw with your own eyes what the Lord did at Baal Peor.^(A) The Lord your God destroyed from among you everyone who followed the Baal of Peor,
