Proverbs 17:5

New International Version

⁵Whoever mocks the poor^(A) shows contempt for their Maker;^(B)
whoever gloats over disaster^(C) will not go unpunished.^(D)

Proverbs 17:5

King James Version

⁵Whoso mocketh the poor reproacheth his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.

¹⁷Do not gloat^(A) when your enemy falls;
when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice,^(B)

¹⁷Rejoice not when thine enemy falleth, and let not thine heart be glad when he stumbleth:

¹⁸or the Lord will see and disapprove
and turn his wrath away from them.^(A)

¹⁸Lest the Lord see it, and it displease him, and he turn away his wrath from him.
