Proverbs 19:7-9
American Standard Version
7 All the brethren of the poor do hate him:
How much more do his friends go far from him!
[a]He pursueth them with words, but they are gone.
8 He that getteth [b]wisdom loveth his own soul:
He that keepeth understanding shall find good.
9 A false witness shall not be unpunished;
And he that [c]uttereth lies shall perish.

7 The poor are shunned by all their relatives—
how much more do their friends avoid them!(A)
Though the poor pursue them with pleading,
they are nowhere to be found.[a](B)
8 The one who gets wisdom loves life;
the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper.(C)
9 A false witness will not go unpunished,
and whoever pours out lies will perish.(D)
