¹⁷He will respond to the prayer^(A) of the destitute;
he will not despise their plea.

¹⁷He will regard the prayer of the destitute, and not despise their prayer.

¹¹Tremble,^(A) you complacent women;
shudder, you daughters who feel secure!^(B)
Strip off your fine clothes^(C)
and wrap yourselves in rags.^(D)

¹¹Tremble, ye women that are at ease; be troubled, ye careless ones: strip you, and make you bare, and gird sackcloth upon your loins.

⁹You uncovered your bow,
you called for many arrows.^(A)
You split the earth with rivers;

⁹Thy bow was made quite naked, according to the oaths of the tribes, even thy word. Selah. Thou didst cleave the earth with rivers.
