Psalm 62-67
New American Standard Bible
God Alone a Refuge from Treachery and Oppression.
For the music director; [a]according to Jeduthun. A Psalm of David.
62 (A)My soul waits in silence for God alone;
From Him (B)comes my salvation.
2 He alone is my (C)rock and my salvation,
My (D)stronghold; I will not be greatly shaken.
3 How long will you attack a man,
That you may murder him, all of you,
Like a (E)leaning wall, like a tottering fence?
4 They have planned only to thrust him down from his high position;
They (F)delight in falsehood;
They (G)bless with [b]their mouth,
But inwardly they curse. Selah
5 My soul, (H)wait in silence for God alone,
For my hope is from Him.
6 He alone is (I)my rock and my salvation,
My refuge; I will not be shaken.
7 My (J)salvation and my glory rest on God;
The rock of my strength, my (K)refuge is in God.
8 (L)Trust in Him at all times, you people;
(M)Pour out your hearts before Him;
God is a refuge for us. Selah
9 People of (N)low standing are only (O)breath, and people of rank are a (P)lie;
In the (Q)balances they go up.
Together they are lighter than breath.
10 (R)Do not trust in oppression,
And do not vainly rely on (S)robbery;
If wealth increases, (T)do not set your heart on it.
11 God has (U)spoken [c]once;
[d]Twice I have heard this:
That (V)power belongs to God;
12 And faithfulness (W)is Yours, Lord,
For You (X)reward a person according to his work.
The Thirsting Soul Satisfied in God.
A Psalm of David, [e]when he was in the wilderness of Judah.
63 God, (Y)You are my God; I shall be watching for You;
My soul (Z)thirsts for You, my flesh yearns for You,
In a (AA)dry and exhausted land where there is no water.
2 So have I (AB)seen You in the sanctuary,
To see Your power and glory.
3 Because Your [f](AC)favor is better than life,
My lips will praise You.
4 So I will bless You (AD)as long as I live;
I will (AE)lift up my hands in Your name.
5 My soul is (AF)satisfied as with fat and fatness,
And my mouth offers (AG)praises with joyful lips.
6 When I remember You (AH)on my bed,
I meditate on You in the (AI)night watches,
7 For (AJ)You have been my help,
And in the (AK)shadow of Your wings I sing for joy.
8 My soul (AL)clings [g]to You;
Your (AM)right hand takes hold of me.
9 But those who (AN)seek my [h]life to destroy it,
Will go into the [i](AO)depths of the earth.
10 [j]They will be [k](AP)turned over to the power of the sword;
They will be a [l](AQ)prey for foxes.
11 But the (AR)king will rejoice in God;
Everyone who (AS)swears by Him will boast,
For the (AT)mouths of those who speak lies will be stopped.
Prayer for Rescue from Secret Enemies.
For the music director. A Psalm of David.
64 Hear my voice, God, in (AU)my [m]complaint;
(AV)Protect my life from dread of the enemy.
2 Hide me from the (AW)secret discussion of evildoers,
From the restlessness of (AX)the workers of injustice,
3 Who (AY)have sharpened their tongues like a sword.
They (AZ)aimed bitter speech as their arrows,
4 To (BA)shoot [n]from concealment at the innocent;
Suddenly they shoot at him, and (BB)do not fear.
5 They make firm for themselves an evil [o]purpose;
They [p]talk of (BC)setting snares secretly;
They say, “(BD)Who can see them?”
6 They [q]devise injustices, saying,
“We are [r]ready with a well-conceived plot”;
For the [s](BE)inward thought and the heart of a person are [t]deep.
7 But (BF)God [u]will shoot an arrow at them;
Suddenly [v]they will be wounded.
8 So [w]they [x]will (BG)make him stumble;
(BH)Their own tongue is against them;
All who see them will (BI)shake their heads.
9 Then all people [y]will (BJ)fear,
And they [z]will (BK)declare the work of God,
And [aa]will consider [ab]what He has done.
10 The righteous person will be (BL)glad in the Lord and (BM)take refuge in Him;
And all the upright in heart will boast.
God’s Abundant Favor to Earth and Mankind.
For the music director. A Psalm of David. A Song.
65 There will be silence [ac]before You, and praise in Zion, God,
And the (BN)vow will be fulfilled for You.
2 You who hear prayer,
To You (BO)all [ad]mankind comes.
3 [ae](BP)Wrongdoings prevail against me;
As for our offenses, You [af](BQ)forgive them.
4 (BR)Blessed is the one You (BS)choose and allow to approach You;
He will dwell in Your courtyards.
We will be (BT)satisfied with the goodness of Your house,
Your holy temple.
5 By (BU)awesome deeds You answer us in righteousness, (BV)God of our salvation,
You who are the trust of all the (BW)ends of the earth and the farthest [ag](BX)sea;
6 Who (BY)establishes the mountains by His strength,
Who is (BZ)encircled with might;
7 Who (CA)stills the roaring of the seas,
The roaring of their waves,
And the (CB)turmoil of the nations.
8 They who dwell at the (CC)ends of the earth stand in awe of Your signs;
You make the [ah]sunrise and the sunset shout for joy.
9 You visit the earth and (CD)cause it to overflow;
You greatly (CE)enrich it;
The [ai](CF)stream of God is full of water;
You prepare their (CG)grain, for so You prepare [aj]the earth.
10 You water its furrows abundantly,
You [ak]settle its ridges,
You soften it (CH)with showers,
You bless its growth.
11 You have crowned the year [al]with Your (CI)goodness,
And Your [am]paths (CJ)drip with fatness.
12 (CK)The pastures of the wilderness drip,
And the (CL)hills encircle themselves with rejoicing.
13 The meadows are (CM)clothed with flocks
And the valleys are (CN)covered with grain;
They (CO)shout for joy, yes, they sing.
Praise for God’s Mighty Deeds and for His Answer to Prayer.
For the music director. A Song. A Psalm.
66 (CP)Shout joyfully to God, all the earth;
2 Sing the (CQ)glory of His name;
Make His (CR)praise glorious.
3 Say to God, “How (CS)awesome are Your works!
Because of the greatness of Your power Your enemies will (CT)pretend to obey You.
4 (CU)All the earth will worship You,
And will (CV)sing praises to You;
They will sing praises to Your name.” Selah
5 (CW)Come and see the works of God,
Who is (CX)awesome in His deeds toward the sons of mankind.
6 He (CY)turned the sea into dry land;
They passed through (CZ)the river on foot;
Let’s (DA)rejoice there, in Him!
7 He (DB)rules by His might forever;
His (DC)eyes keep watch on the nations;
The rebellious shall not (DD)exalt themselves! Selah
8 Bless our God, you peoples,
And [an](DE)sound His praise abroad,
9 Who [ao](DF)keeps us in life,
And (DG)does not allow our feet to [ap]slip.
10 For You have (DH)put us to the test, God;
You have (DI)refined us as silver is refined.
11 You (DJ)brought us into the net;
You laid an oppressive burden upon [aq]us.
12 You made men (DK)ride over our heads;
We went through (DL)fire and through water.
Yet You (DM)brought us out into a place of abundance.
13 I shall (DN)come into Your house with burnt offerings;
I shall (DO)pay You my vows,
14 Which my lips uttered
And my mouth spoke when I was (DP)in distress.
15 I shall (DQ)offer to You burnt offerings of fat animals,
With the smoke of (DR)rams;
I shall make an offering of [ar]bulls with male goats. Selah
16 (DS)Come and hear, all who [as]fear God,
And I will (DT)tell of what He has done for my soul.
17 I cried to Him with my mouth,
And [at]He was (DU)exalted with my tongue.
18 If I [au](DV)regard wickedness in my heart,
The (DW)Lord will not hear;
19 But (DX)God has heard;
He has given attention to the sound of my prayer.
20 (DY)Blessed be God,
Who (DZ)has not turned away my prayer
Nor His favor from me.
The Nations Exhorted to Praise God.
For the music director; with stringed instruments. A Psalm. A Song.
67 God be gracious to us and (EA)bless us,
And (EB)cause His face to shine [av]upon us— Selah
2 That (EC)Your way may be known on the earth,
(ED)Your salvation among all nations.
3 May the (EE)peoples praise You, God;
May all the peoples praise You.
4 May the (EF)nations be glad and sing for joy;
For You will (EG)judge the peoples with fairness
And (EH)guide the nations on the earth. Selah
5 May the (EI)peoples praise You, God;
May all the peoples praise You.
6 The (EJ)earth has yielded its produce;
God, our God, (EK)blesses us.
7 God blesses us,
[aw]So that (EL)all the ends of the earth may fear Him.
