If the foundations be destroyed, what can the righteous do?

The Lord is in his holy temple, the Lord's throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men.

The Lord trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.

Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup.

For the righteous Lord loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright.

When the foundations(A) are being destroyed,
    what can the righteous do?”

The Lord is in his holy temple;(B)
    the Lord is on his heavenly throne.(C)
He observes everyone on earth;(D)
    his eyes examine(E) them.
The Lord examines the righteous,(F)
    but the wicked, those who love violence,
    he hates with a passion.(G)
On the wicked he will rain
    fiery coals and burning sulfur;(H)
    a scorching wind(I) will be their lot.

For the Lord is righteous,(J)
    he loves justice;(K)
    the upright(L) will see his face.(M)
