132 En sang ved festreisene. Herre, gi David lønn for hans møie,
2 han som tilsvor Herren, gav Jakobs Veldige det løfte:
3 Jeg vil ikke gå inn i mitt huses telt, jeg vil ikke stige op på min sengs leie,
4 jeg vil ikke unne mine øine søvn, mine øielokk slummer,
5 før jeg finner et sted for Herren, en bolig for Jakobs Veldige!
6 Se, vi hørte om den[a] i Efrata[b], vi fant den i skogsbygden[c].
7 Vi vil komme til hans bolig, vi vil tilbede for hans føtters skammel.
8 Reis dig, Herre, og kom til ditt hvilested, du og din styrkes ark!
9 La dine prester klæ sig i rettferd og dine fromme rope med fryd!
10 For Davids, din tjeners skyld vise du ikke din salvedes åsyn tilbake!
11 Herren har svoret David en sann ed, som han ikke vil gå fra: Av ditt livs frukt vil jeg sette konger på din trone;
12 dersom dine barn holder min pakt og mine vidnesbyrd, som jeg vil lære dem, da skal også deres barn for all tid sitte på dine trone.
13 For Herren har utkåret Sion, han har attrådd det til sin bolig:
14 Dette er mitt hvilested til evig tid; her vil jeg bo, fordi jeg har attrådd det.
15 Dets mat vil jeg velsigne, dets fattige vil jeg mette med brød,
16 og dets prester vil jeg klæ med fryd.
17 Der vil jeg la et horn vokse op for David, gjøre i stand en lampe for min salvede.
18 Hans fiender vil jeg klæ i skam, men på ham skal hans krone stråle.

A song of ascents.
1 Lord, remember David
and all his self-denial.(B)
2 He swore an oath to the Lord,
he made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:(C)
3 “I will not enter my house(D)
or go to my bed,
4 I will allow no sleep to my eyes
or slumber to my eyelids,
5 till I find a place(E) for the Lord,
a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”
6 We heard it in Ephrathah,(F)
we came upon it in the fields of Jaar:[a](G)
7 “Let us go to his dwelling place,(H)
let us worship at his footstool,(I) saying,
8 ‘Arise, Lord,(J) and come to your resting place,
you and the ark of your might.
9 May your priests be clothed with your righteousness;(K)
may your faithful people(L) sing for joy.’”
10 For the sake of your servant David,
do not reject your anointed one.
11 The Lord swore an oath to David,(M)
a sure oath he will not revoke:
“One of your own descendants(N)
I will place on your throne.
12 If your sons keep my covenant(O)
and the statutes I teach them,
then their sons will sit
on your throne(P) for ever and ever.”
13 For the Lord has chosen Zion,(Q)
he has desired it for his dwelling,(R) saying,
14 “This is my resting place for ever and ever;(S)
here I will sit enthroned,(T) for I have desired it.
15 I will bless her with abundant provisions;
her poor I will satisfy with food.(U)
16 I will clothe her priests(V) with salvation,
and her faithful people will ever sing for joy.(W)
