14 I walked about as though it were my friend or brother;
I (A)bowed down [a]mourning, as one who sorrows for a mother.
15 But (B)at my [b]stumbling they were glad and gathered themselves together;
The [c](C)smiters whom I did not know gathered together against me,
They (D)tore at me and never were silent.
16 Amongst the godless jesters at a feast,
They (E)gnashed at me with their teeth.

as though weeping for my mother.

assailants gathered against me without my knowledge.

16 Like the ungodly they maliciously mocked;[a](D)
