³³ I didn’t know Him, but He^[a] who sent me to baptize with^[b] water told me, ‘The One you see the Spirit descending and resting on—He is the One who baptizes with^[c] the Holy Spirit.’^(A)

¹⁷ He is the Spirit^(A) of truth.^(B) The world is unable to receive Him because it doesn’t see Him or know Him. But you do know Him, because He remains with you and will be^[a] in you.^(C)

⁷ Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth.^(A) It is for your benefit that I go away, because if I don’t go away the Counselor will not come to you. If I go, I will send Him to you.^(B)

⁴ Then they were all filled^(A) with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in different languages, as the Spirit gave them ability for speech.^(B)

¹⁵ After they went down there, they prayed for them, so the Samaritans might receive the Holy Spirit.

⁹ You, however, are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, since^[a] the Spirit of God lives in you.^(A) But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ,^(B) he does not belong to Him.

²⁵ Since we live^(A) by the Spirit, we must also follow the Spirit.
