4 The cords of death^(I) entangled me;
    the torrents^(J) of destruction overwhelmed me.
⁵ The cords of the grave coiled around me;
    the snares of death^(K) confronted me.

⁶ In my distress^(L) I called to the Lord;^(M)
    I cried to my God for help.
From his temple he heard my voice;^(N)
    my cry came^(O) before him, into his ears.
⁷ The earth trembled^(P) and quaked,^(Q)
    and the foundations of the mountains shook;^(R)
    they trembled because he was angry.^(S)
