The Fourth Seal: Death
7 When the Lamb broke the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the (A)fourth living creature saying, “Come[a]!” 8 I looked, and behold, [b]an (B)ashen horse; and the one who sat on it had the name (C)Death, and (D)Hades was following with him. Authority was given to them over a fourth of the earth, (E)to kill with sword, and famine, and [c]plague, and by the wild animals of the earth.

7 When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature(A) say, “Come!” 8 I looked, and there before me was a pale horse!(B) Its rider was named Death, and Hades(C) was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.(D)
9 When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under(E) the altar(F) the souls of those who had been slain(G) because of the word of God(H) and the testimony they had maintained.
