9 A[a] third angel[b] followed the first two,[c] declaring[d] in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and takes the mark on his forehead or his hand, 10 that person[e] will also drink of the wine of God’s anger[f] that has been mixed undiluted in the cup of his wrath, and he will be tortured with fire and sulfur[g] in front of the holy angels and in front of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke from their[h] torture will go up[i] forever and ever, and those who worship the beast and his image will have[j] no rest day or night, along with[k] anyone who receives the mark of his name.”

- Revelation 14:11 tn The present tense ἀναβαίνει (anabainei) has been translated as a futuristic present (ExSyn 535-36). This is also consistent with the future passive βασανισθήσεται (basanisthēsetai) in v. 10.
- Revelation 14:11 tn The present tense ἔχουσιν (echousin) has been translated as a futuristic present to keep the English tense consistent with the previous verb (see note on “will go up” earlier in this verse).

9 A third angel followed them and said in a loud voice: “If anyone worships the beast(A) and its image(B) and receives its mark on their forehead(C) or on their hand, 10 they, too, will drink the wine of God’s fury,(D) which has been poured full strength into the cup of his wrath.(E) They will be tormented with burning sulfur(F) in the presence of the holy angels and of the Lamb. 11 And the smoke of their torment will rise for ever and ever.(G) There will be no rest day or night(H) for those who worship the beast and its image,(I) or for anyone who receives the mark of its name.”(J)
