Romans 13:4
New English Translation

4 because it is God’s servant for your well-being. But be afraid if you do wrong because government[a] does not bear the sword for nothing. It is God’s servant to administer punishment on the person who does wrong.

4 For the one in authority is God’s servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for rulers do not bear the sword for no reason. They are God’s servants, agents of wrath to bring punishment on the wrongdoer.(A)
