What if some were unfaithful? Will their infidelity nullify the fidelity of God?(A) Of course not! God must be true, though every human being is a liar,[a] as it is written:

“That you may be justified in your words,
    and conquer when you are judged.”(B)

But if our wickedness provides proof of God’s righteousness, what can we say? Is God unjust, humanly speaking, to inflict his wrath?(C)

“So that you may be proved right when you speak
    and prevail when you judge.”[a](E)

But if our unrighteousness brings out God’s righteousness more clearly,(F) what shall we say? That God is unjust in bringing his wrath on us? (I am using a human argument.)(G)
