¹⁸ So then he has mercy on whomever he chooses, and he hardens the heart of whomever he chooses.

⁷ But we speak God’s wisdom, a hidden mystery, which God decreed before the ages for our glory ⁸ and which none of the rulers of this age understood, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. ⁹ But, as it is written,

¹⁰ God has revealed to us through the Spirit, for the Spirit searches everything, even the depths of God.^(B)

³ and how the mystery was made known to me by revelation, as I wrote above in a few words,^{[a](A) 4} a reading of which will enable you to perceive my understanding of the mystery of Christ.^{(B) 5} In former generations this mystery^[b] was not made known to humankind, as it has now been revealed to his holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit:^(C)

⁹ and to make everyone see^[a] what is the plan of the mystery hidden for ages in^[b] God, who created all things,^(A)
