97 Drottinn er konungur orðinn! jörðin fagni, eyjafjöldinn gleðjist.
2 Ský og sorti eru umhverfis hann, réttlæti og réttvísi eru grundvöllur hásætis hans,
3 eldur fer fyrir honum og bálast umhverfis spor hans.
4 Leiftur hans lýsa um jarðríki, jörðin sér það og nötrar.
5 Björgin bráðna sem vax fyrir Drottni, fyrir Drottni gjörvallrar jarðarinnar.
6 Himnarnir kunngjöra réttlæti hans, og allar þjóðir sjá dýrð hans.
7 Allir skurðgoðadýrkendur verða til skammar, þeir er stæra sig af falsguðunum. Allir guðir falla fram fyrir honum.
8 Síon heyrir það og gleðst, Júdadætur fagna sakir dóma þinna, Drottinn.
9 Því að þú, Drottinn, ert Hinn hæsti yfir gjörvallri jörðunni, þú ert hátt hafinn yfir alla guði.
10 Drottinn elskar þá er hata hið illa, hann verndar sálir dýrkenda sinna, frelsar þá af hendi óguðlegra.
11 Ljós rennur upp réttlátum og gleði hjartahreinum.
12 Gleðjist, þér réttlátir, yfir Drottni, vegsamið hans heilaga nafn.

1 The Lord reigns,(A) let the earth be glad;(B)
let the distant shores(C) rejoice.
2 Clouds(D) and thick darkness(E) surround him;
righteousness and justice are the foundation of his throne.(F)
3 Fire(G) goes before(H) him
and consumes(I) his foes on every side.
4 His lightning(J) lights up the world;
the earth(K) sees and trembles.(L)
5 The mountains melt(M) like wax(N) before the Lord,
before the Lord of all the earth.(O)
6 The heavens proclaim his righteousness,(P)
and all peoples see his glory.(Q)
7 All who worship images(R) are put to shame,(S)
those who boast in idols(T)—
worship him,(U) all you gods!(V)
8 Zion hears and rejoices
and the villages of Judah are glad(W)
because of your judgments,(X) Lord.
9 For you, Lord, are the Most High(Y) over all the earth;(Z)
you are exalted(AA) far above all gods.
10 Let those who love the Lord hate evil,(AB)
for he guards(AC) the lives of his faithful ones(AD)
and delivers(AE) them from the hand of the wicked.(AF)
11 Light shines[a](AG) on the righteous(AH)
and joy on the upright in heart.(AI)
12 Rejoice in the Lord,(AJ) you who are righteous,
and praise his holy name.(AK)

97 The Lord reigneth; let the earth rejoice; let the multitude of isles be glad thereof.
2 Clouds and darkness are round about him: righteousness and judgment are the habitation of his throne.
3 A fire goeth before him, and burneth up his enemies round about.
4 His lightnings enlightened the world: the earth saw, and trembled.
5 The hills melted like wax at the presence of the Lord, at the presence of the Lord of the whole earth.
6 The heavens declare his righteousness, and all the people see his glory.
7 Confounded be all they that serve graven images, that boast themselves of idols: worship him, all ye gods.
8 Zion heard, and was glad; and the daughters of Judah rejoiced because of thy judgments, O Lord.
9 For thou, Lord, art high above all the earth: thou art exalted far above all gods.
10 Ye that love the Lord, hate evil: he preserveth the souls of his saints; he delivereth them out of the hand of the wicked.
11 Light is sown for the righteous, and gladness for the upright in heart.
12 Rejoice in the Lord, ye righteous; and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
