10 For there are many contrary, who speak vanity and beguile minds, namely they of the circumcision, 11 whose mouths must be stopped. They pervert whole houses, teaching things which they ought not, for easy money. 12 One of them, who was an author of their own, said, The Cretans are always liars, evil creatures and lazy gluttons.

Rebuking Those Who Fail to Do Good
10 For there are many rebellious people, full of meaningless talk(A) and deception, especially those of the circumcision group.(B) 11 They must be silenced, because they are disrupting whole households(C) by teaching things they ought not to teach—and that for the sake of dishonest gain. 12 One of Crete’s own prophets(D) has said it: “Cretans(E) are always liars, evil brutes, lazy gluttons.”[a]
