Matthew 13:20-22
New King James Version
20 But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately (A)receives it with joy; 21 yet he has no root in himself, but endures only for a while. For when (B)tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately (C)he stumbles. 22 Now (D)he who received seed (E)among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

New International Version
20 The seed falling on rocky ground refers to someone who hears the word and at once receives it with joy. 21 But since they have no root, they last only a short time. When trouble or persecution comes because of the word, they quickly fall away.(A) 22 The seed falling among the thorns refers to someone who hears the word, but the worries of this life and the deceitfulness of wealth(B) choke the word, making it unfruitful.
